Done for now, put away till spring.

Finally found a minute to do an update. We had great weather here (ie: no snow) until into Decemeber so I grabbed a couple good driving days. I put just over 200 miles on the car before taking off the road for the winter. Overall it ran very well. The Edelbrock 500 works well, . . . → Read More: Done for now, put away till spring.

Clutch Update – and I drove it home

So the clutch slave was changed from the McLeod throwout bearing to a standard setup with the fork and pivot stud. Because the fork had to be cut to fit the space between the tranny and the tunnel wall it made a change in the force requried to push the clutch in. It also . . . → Read More: Clutch Update – and I drove it home

Almost on the Road Again – and an easy way to put those snap things in for the convertable top

I’m close to done with this now. I was able to drive it around the block today – couldn’t wait anymore. The bumpers are on, the lights all work, the top is on, and so forth. This is the second rebuild of this car. The first was back in 97. I remember putting those . . . → Read More: Almost on the Road Again – and an easy way to put those snap things in for the convertable top

Eastwood Sound Deadner and Insulation

One of the things that was always prevalent in the car was heat  -  but not from the heater from the floor and firewall. While browsing the web I did a bit of research into sound deadning and decided to go with the Eastwood insulation panels.

Here’s some pics of it installed. It does . . . → Read More: Eastwood Sound Deadner and Insulation

New (to me) Clutch Setup is in – need 2 truckers

The new clutch setup is in and now I have to find two truckers to help push the pedal in. Ouch! Seriously – it’s hard to push it in. Because of the lack of room around the tranny the clutch fork had to be cut down. That made the fulcrum point change and I . . . → Read More: New (to me) Clutch Setup is in – need 2 truckers

Update on the MGB Update

Ordered a new master cylinder – tried a rebuild kit in the old one but it leaked a bit. I was put a notice out on the email list looking for an MGC hood – the one with the bump in it. That way I could get rid of the hood with the . . . → Read More: Update on the MGB Update

MGB Gets A Re-do

Tm Warner did the body work and did a great job. Floors were worse than I thought they would be – the hole in the top leaked much more than I thought so, new floors on both sides, rockers, and more.

Here’s some pics:

Transmission Change

Looked for parts for the T55 but that didn’t work out. Was offered two for pickup but they were of unknown quality. So, I decided to follow the crowd and go for a T5. Checked around for a few weeks and ended up with a T5 from an S10. I know it’s not a . . . → Read More: Transmission Change

Update – heads, studs, gaskets

Had the heads pulled and brought them up to Proformance. Good thing – the exhaust valves were burnt. The intakes were OK. Went over to Ebay and got a set of exhaust valves from Falcon Sales, Jacksonville, FL. After that needed head studs – txautoplex had them here in a week.

Heads are . . . → Read More: Update – heads, studs, gaskets

Leaky heads ? Nah…

For a bit I thought I had a problem with the heads. But posting the question on the Yahoo 215 group and the mg experience.net forum got the answer I really wanted to hear.

When the headers were pulled coolant came out of some of the bolt holes (studs came out of the heads . . . → Read More: Leaky heads ? Nah…

Rebuild started – engines out

The engines has been removed and I got a chance to take a close look at the headers. I put them on in 98. They were Jet Hot coated. The coating came off at the top area round the heads and a few other places. I’m looking into have them done over at Swain . . . → Read More: Rebuild started – engines out
