Actually, it was painted again – twice. The look I wanted was that of black perl. The thought was with a black base, a light coating of clear with perl, followed by clear would give a very subtle perl look, only noticeable if the light hit it just right. Well, we were wrong. Not exactly sure why, the only thought we could come up with is the black allowed the perl to not get hidden. With only about a quarter quart of perl, it looked good in the garage, but out in the sun light it looked like a perl drum set from the 60′s. Way too bright. Were ever any light hit it, it was a BLUE car.
So, the next day it was repainted. Black Diamond followed by clear. It looks great.The silver dust is in the black is just enough to let the car look black except that there’s something a bit different when you look close or the sun catches it just right.
My daughter Jennifer and her husband Chris were on their way back from a Florida vacation and stopped just in time to help put the pieces back on. Here are some shots from about 8 hours reassembly work -
